Suspected Copper Thief Found on Rooftop Johnny Heath Corpus Christi News

CORPUS CHRISTI – A man found on the roof of a downtown building told police he just fell asleep, and coincidentally was late for work.

Corpus Christi PD believes he was stealing copper, as evidenced by the fact he was carrying tools with him.

Right after his arrest, the man’s wife showed up and let KRIS 6 News’ Caroline Flores know how angry she is at her husband.

She claims he’s being doing things like this for years. However, she tells us he does, or at least did, have a job and can’t understand why he continues.

Dancer Pulled off Stage, Punched in Face Johnny Heath Corpus Christi News

CORPUS CHRISTI – Cops were called to the Cabaret Men’s Club on Monday night to deal with a woman accused of dragging a dancer off the stage.

Employees told police that 22-year-old Brittany Murphy ran into the club and started yelling at the woman on stage. The dancer was pulled off the stage, but managed to run to the dressing room for safety.

According to police, Murphy repeatedly punched the dancer in the face. The victim admitted to police she had taken Murphy’s identification with her to work.

Murphy is facing a misdemeanor assault charge.

Sinton PD Looking for Thieves Who Set a School Truck on Fire Johnny Heath Corpus Christi News

SINTON – A local school district’s truck was stolen and set on fire.

Officers believe two teens may have done it.

Sinton ISD officials reported their truck stolen just before 6:30 this morning. An hour later, someone found the truck burning in a ditch along County Road 36A. Witnesses told police they saw two people walking away for the truck after it caught fire.

Meanwhile, investigators are planning to review the school district’s surveillance video to track down the thieves.

Man Punches CCPD Officer in the Face, Gets Arrested Johnny Heath Corpus Christi News

CORPUS CHRISTI – A man was arrested after he punched a Corpus Christi Police officer early Tuesday morning.

Thirty-year-old Julian Morin was standing in front of a gas station on Staples and Leopard street around 2 o’clock in the morning, when he noticed two police officers talking.

One of the officers was leaning into a patrol car, as she chatted with one of her colleagues.

According to police, Morin walked up to the officers as if he was going to ask him a question, when he suddenly started swinging at the officers.

One of the officers tried to take a step back, but Morin landed a punch in her face, according to police.

Both officers were able to arrest Morin, and charged him with assaulting a public servant–a third degree felony.

The officer who was punched didn’t need medical treatment, but her right eye was red and swollen from the punch.

Assault Victim Hit on the Head with Squeegee Johnny Heath Corpus Christi News

CORPUS CHRISTI – A fight in the parking lot of a Stripes landed on a man in jail on charges he assaulted someone with a window squeegee.

The victim said he got in the middle of a fight between several people in the parking lot early Friday morning. He’s accused 34-year-old Ali Shabazz Ward of grabbing a squeegee out of the receptacle by the pumps and hitting him upside the head.

The victim was taken to the hospital to be treated for cuts to his head.

Ward was arrested for felony assault.

Tree Trimming Tools Tip Cops to Theft Suspects Johnny Heath Corpus Christi News

CORPUS CHRISTI – A couple of suspected tool thieves didn’t do a very good job of hiding their loot.

Just before 3am Thursday, police got a call about two guys sitting on a bus bench with a bunch of tools.

When police arrived, 42-year-old Douglas Castleberry and 26-year-old Billie Williams were trying to hide about $2,700 worth of tree trimming tools.

Police discovered they had been stolen from someone the suspects used to work for. The tools were returned to the owner and the suspects were taken to jail on theft charges.

Boyfriend Accused of Hurting 3-Year-Old Girl Johnny Heath Corpus Christi News

CORPUS CHRISTI – Police are looking for a man who they believe may have beaten a 3-year-old child leaving her with serious injuries. An arrest warrant has been issued for 22-year-old Julian Lopez.

He’s the boyfriend of a woman who called police saying Lopez had been watching her 3-year-old daughter earlier in the day while she went to work.

When she returned home early sunday morning to the 800 block of Omaha, Lopez quickly left, and that’s when she discovered the injuries.

Police say the child was covered from head to toe with cuts and bruises. She also had dried blood on her nose and her body.

The girl was taken to Driscoll Children’s Hospital and has since been released.

Man Stabbed and Run Over in Bee County Johnny Heath Corpus Christi News

BEEVILLE – A man remains in serious condition after he was stabbed and run over in Bee County this weekend.

Sheriff’s deputies were called to help out the man found in a field west of Beeville on Sunday afternoon. While he was suffering from serious injuries, the victim was able to give the names of 2 people he claim attacked him.

Officers from Beeville tracked down and arrested Belinda Brown and Kevin Griffin for attempted murder. A motive for the attack was not provided by the Sheriff’s Office.

The victim is being cared for at a hospital in Corpus Christi.

CCPD: Girlfriend Made Up Carjacking Story to Hide DWI Crash Johnny Heath Corpus Christi News

CORPUS CHRISTI – A couple spent Sunday in the Nueces County Jail after filing a false carjacking report, according to Corpus Christi police.

25-year-old Crystal Guerra allegedly called police around 4am to report a man with gun had forced her and her boyfriend, 33-year-old Israel Deleon, out of their BMW. The car was found crashed along I-37.

Officers weren’t too sure about her story. They filed a misdemeanor charge of filing a false report against Crystal Guerra after finding her boyfriend was intoxicated.

The arresting officer found Deleon was alone when he crashed the car. Right afterwards, he called someone for help. That person brought Guerra to scene where she allegedly made up the story about being carjacked.

Deleon was not injured win the crash. He’s charged with driving while intoxicated.
